PHI PHI ISLANDS

Pristine beaches, as yet unspoiled by the ravages of haphazard development are Krabi's main attractions. They continue to offer immense snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. The mjost spectacular is Hat Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park, better known as Phi-Phi Island, due west and south of Phuket Town. In the park are two islands of outstanding yet contrasting beauty. These islands have become the symbol of the perfect tropical island. There are also extensive mainland beaches and over 80 lesser islands. The boat ride to Phi Phi Lea and Phi Phi Don from Krabi Town's Chao Fah Bridge Pier is a pleasant journey. The perfect season for these enjoyable rides is during November to April. The trip can take between an hour and a quarter to three hours depending on the size of the boat. During the rest of the year, the Andaman Sea can be choppy and the weather can cause havoc with travel plans while at sea.
Rocking at the Reggae Bar

The Reggae Bar on Phi Phi Island is the biggest, noisiest and probably the most fun. Measuring 25 metres by 75 metres, the bar is more of an entertainment complex.

as the smaller bars on the island close, the crowd moves into the Reggae. Spirited dancing and partying carries on through the night.

Reggae's History on Phi Phi

The Reggae Bar opened in 1997 as the Harmony Bar on the main street, 30 meters from its present entrance. It made a modest beginning as a simple bar. Later, when the contract on the lease came up, Pi Owen (Mr Fat's) and Wina bought a lease on the side of the hill and made the Reggae

The all-time favourite and best way to spend a day on the Phi Phi Island is snorkelling. Especially before Christmas, when Europe is in the grips of winter.

Phi Phi Long Beach

After a morning of snorkelling with the sharks off Phi Phi Ley, the next perfect thing to do would be to hang out on the sands of Long Beach. A Quiet shack-type pancake house on the rocky end of the beach completes the picture.
The Phi Phi islands are located about 48 Km southeast from Phuket, 42 km south from Krabi Town and 40 km from Ao Nang Beach. It can take between one and a half hours to three hours to reach these islands, depending on the type of boat. Boats leave from Phuket, Ao Nang and the Chao Far Pier in Krabi Town on a daily basis.
